I would give my left… – Shut your mouth! – … for BG! to end up participating in something like the PS22 Chorus and having an appreciation for this end of the pop music spectrum. (If I gave ‘em both, I could probably sing like this.)

Holly Fortune™ – Now, even more pregnant!Yesterday, Hol (left) had her 29 week check-in with our OB at MoBap and everything is as it should be. BG! continues to work up the necessary speed to enter the Earth’s atmosphere – I think she’s up to 162 bpm.

It should also be noted that my wife has been an astonishingly cute pregnant lady. (Yet, it’s still a bit challenging to get photos approved for publication.)

‘Cause I’m pretty sure we’re going to be this couple at the natural birthing class tonight.

In this clip, Hol would be cast against type as the Amy Poehler character. From 2008’s underrated Baby Mama. And, yes, I’m then cast in the role that in all other instances would go to Hol, Tina Fey.

I’ve been saving this until we got closer to BG!’s B-day, but I think it’s finally time to start reading what looks to be an absolutely fascinating book, A Thousand Days of Wonder — developmental psychologist Charles Fernyhough’s “chronicle of his daughter’s developing mind” from birth to age three.

He’s also just written a thought-provoking post on “anti-parenting” (which really isn’t as anarchic as it sounds) for Psychology Today titled: “Anti-parenting for beginners”. He describes the post on his own blog – The Ladybird Papers – as a “…’manifesto’ for a new approach to parenting.”

Note: I’ll be reading the book on my nook – my B-day present from Hol last year. I have been reading on the nook exclusively for the past four months and love it.

I think Hol and I have both known since we found out BG! was coming to stay that she would own one of these. It’s keeping very much in line with Hol’s growing collection of simple, white DIY vinyl figures (e.g. Munny) just bigger (much) and oranger.

After a looooong search and having learned way more about the glider market than she thought she would, Hol finally settled on this green-piped white beauty. And she deserves it. We ended up getting it from fawn&forest. (I think they had the best deal – we haven’t gone completely bat babysh*t crazy.)

Parental Super Vision: Oscar Night Edition

I don’t know if either of these are up for anything tonight, but these are two movies – both with brilliant soundtracks BTW – that I can’t wait to watch again someday with BG!

The fantastic (in all senses) Fantastic Mr. Fox. Another warm, awkward tale of a quirky family from Wes Anderson. A gorgeous, thoughtful, fun and funny experience.

And Spike Jonze’s astonishingly beautiful, visceral, and moving, Where the Wild Things Are.

And, of course, I also can’t wait to read the source material with her…
