Wrath66™
Chris (aka Wrath66™) is an ex-marketing/advertising creative turned stay-at-home Dad to Sabine Alegría (aka Baby Grrl!™, etc.) and husband to an absolutely amazing wife, Hol(ly).
Originally from the West Coast (the greater SFO and SEA areas – the two areas where most of his family is) Chris has crossed the country and the globe and (for reasons to tedious to recount here) currently resides in STL.
As of mid-February 2010, Chris, after a seven month hiatus from Wrath66.com, has returned and has begun posting almost exclusively about stuff that has to do with the aforementioned, Baby Grrl!™.
Chris occasionaly does the odd bit of brand development and design under the Brand Affairs Dept. (AKA The B.A.D.) moniker. (But, don’t hold your breath waiting for him to finish the site. As a matter of fact, he may not renew the domain. He’s considering working for one brand exclusively.) (Well, maybe three: Wrath66.com™, Baby Grrl! Labs™, and the recently conceived EvolDad™)
It’s worth noting that the rampant trademarking (worth reading if you’ve got any Q’s about the legalities, etc.) that goes on here owes a great debt (of gratitude if nothing else) to the older works of The Designers Republic. Also, my design style (if I have one) and ideas about branding – or rather aesthetic, or sensibilities might be better terms – have often been (very) heavily influenced by same. I’ve always admired their twisted (at one time) notion of what was possible with a brand.
The Name
Lope de Aguirre, the “Wrath of God” » Click image for larger view.Wrath66 was the user ID I settled on at an early point in registering for the plethora of digital services and accounts one tends to join when one has a computer, an Xbox, or an iPhone and knows what to do with it. “Wrath”, was inspired by an ancestor of mine (at least, I like to think he was) and subject of Werner Herzog’s haunting masterpiece, Aguirre, the Wrath of God, the foolhardy, half-crazed Spanish conquistador, Lope de Aguirre. (Take a look at that picture and tell me that’s not my great-great-great-great-great… something.) If you’re the superstitious type, the type to believe in reincarnation and numerology, you might consider that he was killed four hundred and five years – to the day – before I was born. The “66” is my birthyear.
